While in college, Brad Pitt made a decision to pursue his dream of becoming an actor, this dream took him on a journey to leave the college and aspire to become a famous actor. Arriving in LA, he began taking acting lessons from well-known acting coach Roy London, and eventually landed a minor part in ‘Another World’, an Emmy-Award winning drama. Soon this minor part would escalate the Brad Pitt films legacy over the next two decades.
In addition to appearing in numerous television series, sitcoms and dramas alike, there have been more than 35 Brad Pitt films on the big screen to complement his acting career. Many of the Brad Pitt films from his early career were not as well received as his most recent films. For example, ‘Johnny Suede’, ‘A River Runs Through It’ and ‘Kalifornia’ from the early 1990s. It was not until his portrayal of Louis de Pointe du Lac in ‘Interview with the Vampire’ that he started to receive recognition. This film and subsequently the next three Brad Pitt films gave him nominations or awards for his performances, including a Golden Globe for best supporting actor in ‘12 Monkeys’.
Brad Pitt films from 1996 until 2001’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ largely were mostly overlooked by the acting and performing community in regards to awards, nominations and gross receipts. His character in Oceans Eleven, Rusty Ryan, restored Brad’s career. Then in 2004, Brad took the lead role in Troy, portraying Achilles, for which he received the Teen Choice Award and a nomination for MTV’s Best Male Performance award, the worldwide box office totals from ‘Troy’ amounted to nearly 0 million. An extraordinary sum for Brad Pitt as this became his highest grossing film ever.
Two Brad Pitt Films that failed to garner any awards or nominations since 2004 were, ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ and ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’. However both of these films grossed over 0 million dollars in box office receipts. The latest Brad Pitt film to receive a nomination is ‘The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button’, where Brad received a total of 5 nominations for Best Actor and Outstanding Performance by a Male actor from the Screen Actors Guild, the Academy Awards, BAFTA and the Golden Globes.
Future Brad Pitt films are ‘The Tree of Life’ and ‘Inglourious Basterds’ both scheduled for 2009 release. ‘Inglourious Basterds’, a Quentin Tarantino film, is based on an earlier movie and has an epic World War II theme. The film has wrapped up after shooting on location in Germany and France and the producers expect to premier it at the Cannes Film Festival.
