There were TONS of high-quality movies in 2009. With the year drawing to a close, it's a good time to reflect on the awesomeness of Hollywood 2009.
Here’s a list of the 5 Must-Watch Movies of 2009:
1. Men Who Stare At Goats
This film-adaptation of a Jon Ronson book of the same name stars A-Listers like George Clooney and Ewan McGregor. It's about paranormal practices by the military that is almost impossible to believe -- but is no myth. Ewan McGregor plays a reporter who immerses himself in the world of military psychic warfare and remote viewing when he encounters Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), a member of this elite psychic unit. While this movie is comedic and certainly provides you with a barrel of laughs, it's more true than any of us DARE to believe.
2. This Is It.
This much-anticipated Michael Jackson-resurrected-from-the-dead film definitely kicked ass. If you’re a Jackson fan (who isn’t?) and a music lover, this rare, behind-the-scenes look at his rehearsals for his sold-out concerts will be legendary. Chronicling March through June 2009, this movie is made from more than 100 hours of PURE behind-the-scenes footage that features Michael in previously unseen raw and candid light. This movie captures perfectly the singer, dancer, artist and creative genius at work painstakingly perfecting his final, rocking show.
3. 2012
Few of us can resist another apocalyptic movie. 2012 is based on ancient Mayan predictions about an apocalypse when the Mayan calendar ends in that year. With scientists, religions and governments scrambling to decipher the significance of this date, it’s no wonder that 2012 is a proven hit. 2012 tells the story of an academician who leads a group of people in an attempt to counteract apocalyptic events on Earth.
4. Precious
Claireece Precious Jones is forced to endure unimaginable hardships in here young life. She’s continually abused by her mother, raped by her father and grows up poor, angry, illiterate, and in spite of being obese, is generally unnoticed. Precious is a huge film-adaptation of a book by Sapphire that is backed by countless celebrities like Oprah Winfrey herself. Merely watching the trailer is sufficient to move just about anyone’s heart. Precious is an amazing story about overcoming adversity and emerging from your own negative shell.
5. Paranormal Activity
A surprisingly wonderful movie, it tells the story of a young couple and their encounters with a seemingly demonic presence in their suburban home. In an attempt to capture what happens at night, they set up video surveillance. These home videos make up the 99 minute film and show evidence of the malevolent entity in their home.
